GED Preparation


Program Goals:The Learning Resource Center’s GED® Preparation Course is designed to help students achieve their best possible score on the GED® test. This course provides small classes with highly trained teachers; problem-solving strategies for analyzing and answering GED® questions; practice taking GED® exams; emphasis on test-taking techniques and strategies specific to the GED® that help build confidence and reduce test anxiety.
The GED® test is comprised of four subjects created to test students’ skills and knowledge in different topics. The four subjects are:

  • Math- Quantitative & algebraic problem solving
  • Science- Life science, physical science, earth and space science
  • Social Studies- Civics and government, U.S. history, economics, geography and the world
  • Reasoning Through Language Arts- Ability to read closely, write clearly, and edit/understand written text

Who: Those in need of their GED® diploma
When: 12:30-2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 8 consecutive weeks;

Where: Learning Resource Center (1628 South Florida Avenue, Lakeland 33803)
What: The first GED® Preparation course will focus on GED® Mathematical Reasoning and will take place over 8 weeks to prepare students for the math exam. A pre-test will be required, and 12 students will be selected for the course based on their pre-test score.
Cost of Course: Once accepted into the course, the cost will be $25.
