Pamela P. Craven, Ph.D.
ABOUT PAM: Dr. Pam Craven is a professional educator with over 40 years of intense instructional and administrative involvement in the field of education, both in the public and private sectors. She is in her twelfth year as Executive Director of the Learning Resource Center. She is an adjunct with Florida Southern College’s graduate program and Polk State College’s Early Childhood Department.
Dr. Craven received a Bachelor’s Degree in English-Journalism Education in 1967 and a Master of Education Degree in 1988 from the University of South Florida. She began her doctoral studies in 1992 in Interdisciplinary Studies, however switching to Adult Education in 1993. In December 2000, she was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Education from USF.
Pam Craven has a broad background in educational reform, serving on task forces and advisory boards. Her area of training specialization is learning styles, effective teaching strategies, and integrated curriculum. She is a member of Polk Businesses for WorldClass Education and serves on the READ Polk Board. She is a member of the Leadership Polk Steering Committee. She also is involved with the Leadership Lakeland Alumni, Polk Vision Steering Committee, the Mentoring Alliance of Polk County, the Polk County Grants Alliance, United Way of Central Florida’s Community Impact Cabinet, Phi Delta Kappa International, and Phi Kappa Phi Honorary Society.
Director of Education
ABOUT CATHIE: Cathie Wright is the current Director of Education at LRC. She holds a BS Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education as well as a Master’s Degree in both areas from Butler University. She has been a part of LRC since 1985.
ABOUT JUDI: Judi has been with LRC for 30 years, and has served the organization in many capacities including Program Manager for Extended School Year Summer Program and Assistant to the Director of Education. She currently coordinates office operations and procedures as well as programs. Judi holds an AA degree with a concentration in Elementary Education. She has gone back to college at Nova Southeastern University and will graduate in December 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree
ABOUT SUSAN: Susan currently serves as a Program Manager for The Learning Resource Center. Her program responsibilities include the SAT Preparation Course, Duke TIP and Study Habits. She also assists the Director of Education with the coordination of tutoring services. Previously, Susan worked as a tutor for The Learning Resource Center and as the Marketing/Program Coordinator from 2000-2002. Prior to joining The Learning Resource Center again in 2012, Susan gained both government and non-profit management experience through her positions as a Victim Services Program Specialist with the State of Florida, Office of the Attorney General; Juvenile Probation Officer, State of Florida, Department of Juvenile Justice; Child Protection Investigator, State of Florida, Department of Children and Families ; Intensive Case Manager, Girls and Boys Town; and as a Marketing Coordinator for Charter Schools. Additionally, Susan has over nine years corporate sector experience. Susan received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Florida Southern College and her Master of Business Administration Degree from Nova Southeastern University.
Paula received her BA in Business Administration from Warner University. She also previously operated her own bookkeeping service. In her role as Bookkeeper, Paula manages accounting functions such as Accounts Payable, Billing and Payroll. She also manages the annual audit process and monthly financial reports. Paula’s work experience is very extensive and includes several accounting systems.

ABOUT LYNNE: Lynne has been with LRC ten years and has worked in many capacities. She has been our data entry person as well as Program Assistant. Lynne was part-time for most of those years and has now retired from the Polk County Schools. Starting August of 2015, Lynne is now full time.
ABOUT BETH: Beth began in 2011 as a LRC tutor and has served in a variety of roles. she is currently a LRC Program Manager. Beth holds a B.S. Degree in Finance from the University of Florida. She worked ten years in the stock brokerage industry. In 2008, she graduated from the EPI program at Polk State College and obtained her Florida Teaching Certificate. Beth has worked as a fourth grade teacher, preschool teacher, and media specialist.
